Plotinus is known as a philosopher that emphasizes mystical experience, which can simply be defined as an experience of the divine.  Plotinus calls this “the flight of the alone to the alone.”  Many people today claim intimate experience with the divine.  Others are skeptical about this possibility and link this claim to abnormal brain function.  Still others believe that mystical experience is the claim of fanaticism.  What do you think?
