A.The Export of Meaning: Cross-Cultural Readings of Dallas provides an in-depth analysis of the worldwide popularity of an American prime time drama, Dallas. Dallas aired during the 1980s in the United States. It quickly became a global phenomenon unlike any other television show. Liebes and Katz, the authors of The Export of Meaning, argue that the global popularity of Dallas is not a case of cultural imperialism (see especially the discussion of cultural imperialism in chapter 1 of the reading). In the essay, discuss the reasons why the authors of The Export of Meaning make this claim/argument.
