Assignment Brief and Guidance:
The Brent Adult and Community Education Services is introducing a new computer literacy course/training event for adults. As an employee of the BACES, you have been asked to support your training and development manager as part of the team of ten employees, with the planning and implementation of the computer literacy course/training event. The duration of the computer literacy course/training event is six weeks and will include a number of workshops, coaching sessions and group/team activities.

The BACES requires a schedule of the types of activities proposed so that plans can be finalised. In addition, any guest speakers or motivational coaches will also require a minimum of two weeks’ notice for all bookings.

You have also been asked to design and deliver a workshop as part of the training event based on the dynamics of team working.

Working in small groups (3–4 per group):

1.a) Produce a professional schedule (using project management software) that identifies the ‘WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE/GANTT CHART’ and resourcing prior to the six week’s training event.(LO1)

1.b) In addition, design a training pack to include a range of activities, seminars, workshops, group activities and break-out sessions. It is expected that 40 learners will attend the event. There is a large auditorium that will seat 60, and the outdoor centre can accommodate 15 at any one time for activities. In addition, there are three break-out rooms, one with computers for up to 20 and two other seminar rooms that seat up to 30.(LO1)

2.    Design a two-hour workshop session based on ‘team dynamics’ to include a presentation, interactive links to suitable sites and an activity sheet that will require delegates to take part in some form of team-building task / group activity. (LO3)

Working individually:

3.    Following the event, your training and development manager has asked you to provide some feedback.

a.    Critically evaluate of the effectiveness of the training event  while considering the following point :

i.        How interpersonal skills were applied during the design and delivery process of the training event. (LO1)

b.    You should also include an evaluation of your performance in this project and your contribution to the team you worked in.(LO3)

4.    Produce a report discussing problems you have faced while running the event, how you solved those problems and its importance in planning and running an event. Your report should include a justification of various problem-solving techniques and justify the solution methodologies used during the training event. You should also include a critique of the application of critical reasoning and your experiences of it.(LO2,LO3)

 5.a) Write a report on the usage of CPD within organisations and what evidence would be required to measure how effective this CPD is in helping employees to achieve their goals while using their time and resources effectively. Compare and contrast different  techniques used as a measure of effective CPD.(LO4)

 5. b) Carry out a SWOT analysis to reflect your own current skills and competencies and evaluate your own development needs . Devise a personal and professional development plan based on your weaknesses/needs identified during SWOT analysis.                                 (LO4)

6.    Conduct some research into motivational theories and how they can be used to improve employee performance. Compare a number of theories and present your findings to your peers. (LO4)
