Jason is the vice president of a large petrochemical company. He enjoys his work and his position, but the demands on his time are quite severe. Jason typically works 60 hours a week, and with a new business merger looming, it looks as though he will be working even more now. Jason’s wife has voiced her concern about his work schedule, and she expects to give birth to their first child within the month. Jason is worried that with his new work demands he will not be able to give his wife and baby the attention they need. His company has already indicated that he will need to work long hours for the foreseeable future, and his position is in jeopardy if he takes a personal leave of absence. Jason has other job options available, but he could not expect the same high-ranking position (and pay) that he enjoys at his current job.
